Tips

Bathroom: Show your true colors

Don’t be afraid of bold color in the bathroom, especially since the paintable wall surface is often reduced by showers, mirrors and tile.

KITCHEN:

European kitchen technology has been modified to suit our culture & cooking habits .

Blending:

It’s more interesting to blend than to match. If components match perfectly, your kitchen can appear bland or contrived.

Layering:

Look for ways to add visual interest to your kitchen by adding textures – like decorative ceilings or wall surfaces.

Incorporate old with new :

Highlight the fact that you have acquired your room décor over time. You don’t want your room to look like everything came from the same page of a catalogue.

BLINDS / SHUTTERS:

Today's shutters can be used on the inside and outside of your home and can be painted or stained, depending on the overall look that you want to create.

Exterior shutters:

Exterior shutters are available in two styles: fixed and operable. Fixed Shutters are those that are attached permanently to the outside of your home. Since the shutters cannot be moved, they simply serve as a decorative feature to your home.

Tiles: Choosing Your Tile

Set aside plenty of time to choose your tile because there are so many options this can be overwhelming. Tiles are designed for specific uses and the tile salesperson should be able to direct you to the ones designed for use on walls. These will be thinner and lighter than floor tiles for example. Most of them will also have small spacer bumps built into the edges so you can simply butt them up to the surrounding tiles. Four-inch square tiles are the most common for the backsplash application most stores will have lots of color and style options in this size.

GLAZING:

Fitting double-glazing in replacement windows will provide some sound insulation. However if your primary motivation for fitting double-glazing is to reduce sound then secondary glazing, where you fit a new single glazed frame in front of the existing (prime) window frame, will be better. The greater the "air gap" the better the sound insulation. Double-glazing will reduce heat loss through your windows by an estimated 10 - 12 %. You will save money on your heating bills. However it will be a considerable time before you save enough money to "pay for the windows" - so don't fit double-glazing for this reason alone.
